What are the lifestyle opportunities in and around Big Pine Key, Florida. Are there hiking clubs, biking trails, civic clubs, golf clubs, local arts and theater, lakes, streams, fishing, boating, camping or other types of lifestyle opportunities?

Big Pine Key is one of the most laid back islands in the Florida Keys. We are home to the Key Deer National Refugee and the Great White Heron Refugee. Much of our island is protected native land and has walking trails and bike paths. Our community has a public park called Watson field that offers little league, kids softball, adult softball, sometimes adult kickball league. The park has a playground and tennis courts also. Our other park, Littons Way is across from the only hores stable on the island and a few residents keep horses here. The horses do require a special permit and they may be hard to aquire. It is quite hot down here for them, not the best environment. Many residents get involved with the Refugee, thereis a community library that hosts functions like a computer club and book club. Big Pine has many churches with great activities and an adult center for seniors. There are many volunteer opportunites. Birding is spectacular at certain times of the year and of coure fishing and diving are the most common pastimes. The lifestyle is spectacular as we are surrounded with the beautiful tropical waters of the Gulf and Atlantic. Looe Key sanctuary is a protected reef just minutes offshore and offers some of the best snorkeling and diving. I am a local realtor and would be happy to help you get more familiar with the Keys.
